TEST EQUIPMENT :

To maintain / update the chemistry of plating, several technical aspects are to be adhered to, by ways of regular tests such as corrosion resistance and the status of any particular electrolyte.

Salt Spray Test Chamber :

This chamber produces sultry / corrosive and humid atmosphere by way of salt solution sprayed by way of mist through an air compressor and a specially made nozzle. The plated components are exposed to this corrosive atmosphere within the closed chamber. The effect of corrosion insteps on the metallic surfaces of the components and is noted in terms of hours. Corresponding set tables convert these salt spray test hours to the expected actual life of plated components

Advantages :

- Sealed cabinet using simple self-generating water trap.
- Easy adjustment and monitoring of test conditions.
- Total atomization of salt solution, low rate of use: 0.5 litres per hour.
- Easy access to test panels or specimens.
- Automatic water level control in humidifier system.
- Accuracy + -2 deg. C on temperature and even fall-out throughout test chamber.
- Pumped and filtered salt solution fed to jet and large panel capacity.
- Test cabinet manufactured from non-corrodible materials.

The chamber is made from one piece molded (GRP) glass reinforced plastic of high strength and excellent corrosion resistance at elevated temperatures. The roof unit is made of transparent polymer material for ease in examination of samples under test. Internal dimensions are approx. 845 x 655 x 865 mm, holding volume approx. 450 litres and 128 nos. standard panels of typical size 150 x 100 mm. The equipment is intended to carry out accelerated corrosion tests conforming to world standards such as ASTM B 117.

Hull Cell :

During usage, a particular electrolyte may change concentration of its constituents as also depletion / absence of special additives. The resultant factor is that changes, sometimes lead to a poor finish of plated coatings such as dullness, fogginess, dark spots, blisters and so on. The Hull Cell pot is something like miniature plating apparatus. By the use of anode, rectifier and cathode plate in the miniature plating system, any electrolyte will indicate the quality of plating deposits between certain minimum to certain maximum current density range. Partial / proper improvement in the said electrolyte can be implemented by brighteners, addition agents / special salts.

The pot is made with a built-in heating arrangement by the way of immersion heater or by a water jacket. Agitation is provided with oil-free air bubbler through a built-in air column and also mechanical displacement of liquid in front of cathode plate.
